INDIA 2008:
Introduction

Ingerlise and Allan K. Hansen (the pastor of FEF and his wife) was with their daughter, Maria Lura, in India from February 20th to March 3rd 2008. Our programme was very compact with four pastors' seminars and seven church services, plus visits with the childrens' home and an outing with the children.

The emphasis in the seminars and services were on the message of the cross, and we have had many positive responses from both elders and the participants, who experienced a touch of God (see the separate quotes and testimonies). We also visited churches, whom we have helped sponsor construction and water drilling; yet most of all, we rejoiced that the construction of the childrens' home in Theni is greatly progressing and will soon be able to be utilized.

Thanks to all of you who have made it possible for us to help so many people in India.

Statement from a preacher, who participated in the pastors' seminar in Chennai:
“I live 400 kilometers away and was only in Chennai because I attended the funeral of on e of India's most known evangelists yesterday. Because I know the enterpreter of your seminar, I joined him and listened to the message. God really touched my heart. Until now I have participated in liberation services (see footnote), where there was neither result nor fruit. I was devastated and ready to quit my ministry, but now God has shown me that I am to preach Christ and what He did on the cross. This I will preach from now on. I am extremely happy that God led me to his pastors' seminar.”

(The so-called liberation services are those, who dig into people's pasts and drive demons out of Christian, but Allan K. Hansen showed from the Paul's letters to the Corinthians and Galatians, that such was never done by the apostles among the believers, but that they preached Christ and Him crucified as the true freedom and liberation.)

Testimony from a women who participated in a church service close to Chennai:
(with tears:) “Two hours before the service I sat with my daughter and spoke about the bitterness we have experiences because of various circumstances in our family. We were ready to give up, thinking that life was not worth living. But now God has sent someone all the way from Denmark to India, and he said almost exactly what we spoke of. Now I understand how much God loves us and wants to help us. I am so grateful to Jesus."

Ingerlise's Travelling Diary

February 2nd: We are sitting on a train on the ninth day of our journey around India. We are on the way back from Theni to Chennai, and it has been a series of eventful days. We arrived in India on the 20th after a long trip, and already since then we have had a lot of services and seminars, and a few long journes by train car.

Recently we visited the childrens' home in Theni, and we brought the children on an outing. Everywhere we are greeted with smiles and ”stuterum”, which means ”praise the Lord”. They are very eager to talk to us, but it is of course very difficult since many of them can't say many words in English (and we don't speak Indian). In most cases we have to settle for a smile and a handshake. Everything is different out here; culture, the style of services, and the ways in general, and yet people are the same - we have the same emotions, many of the same concerns and difficulties, and also the same joys.

It was a unique experience to visit the childrens' home in Theni. We arrived in the evening, and the children awaited with singing and waving when they saw us. Present were also the children from the Sunday school, its teacher, and Job with his family. We had a brief time of devotion, after which we gave them presents, cakes and candy for the children. Thy were thrilled about the T-shirts, I received as a donation from a Danish store, and they had to be tried on immediately. The fifteen-year-old sunday school teacher also enjoyed her T-shirt. There were a lot of happy faces and "thank you's" for us that eveningh. Job's wife made dinner for us, and the outing with the children on the next day was a warm one, where we probably had too much sun, but we had a good time, and as for the children, I believe that will be a day they'll remember a long time.

Yesterday (the 27th) we had a unique service in Dindigul, in which the major part of the attendants were Hindus. After having heard the gospel of Jesus Christ, who bore our sins and sickness on the cross, a lot came forward at the alter call (it was, however, difficult to tell how many came to receive the Lord as their savior, and how many came for healing, because there was no one to enterpret after the sermon).

We returned to Chennai around 9 PM, and on the next morning we held a seminar with Nelson's (30 kilometers south of Chennai). Everywhere there is both a great openness and a great hunger for the Word of God. Most sit with the Bible open and pen and paper, ready to note down what they don't want to forget.

Finally: Saturday the 1st of March, Maria and I again visited the childrens' home i Trivellore, app. 40 kilometers west of Chennai. A delightful experience, especially for Maria, around whom the girls flocked. Unfortunately we didn't have time to stay long, and the children didn't want us to go so soon. We received many kisses and hugs when we prepared to leave, and we were another experience richer! It was great to experience the openness and joy we met everywhere. We also briefly visited the pastor of the church in Trivellore.

Sunday morning we had a service in Open Door in Chennai, and in the evening we were back in Tambaram. The last seminar was held somewhere between Chennai and Tiruvallur at a place called Pattabiram, and then it was time to pack our suitcases for the last time on this journey. An eventful journey had come to an end, and we have already had responses from people who have been greatly helped and encouraged by what was preached in the services and the seminars.

We thank God that we yet another time was privileged to visit out brothers and sisters in the Lord in India, and we pray that God will continue to work in and through the people we met.
